In May 2014, my sister, who lives in Switzerland and me flew to Spain to visit our parents. They live in Javea, a little town located on the gorgeous Costa Blanca between Valencia and Alicante (see picture below). After our family visit, my sister and I took a little road trip from the East Coast of Spain to the center of Spain to Madrid. One of the more memorable stops was Toledo (see last picture). We saw a lot of historic sites, the Prado in Madrid and feasted on the tasty local dishes and drank some great red wines from the Riojas and Ribera del Duero regions.

Toledo, what a charming city in the region of Castilla La Mancha. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive cultural and monumental heritage and historical co-existence of Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures.
